Over the past few weeks, many students have been reaching out to us with the same question: When will the OPRA exams be conducted in 2027?
At the moment, the official dates for the 2027 OPRA examinations have not been released by the Australian Pharmacy Council (APC).
Based on the pattern followed in recent years, OPRA examinations have generally been conducted three times a year- around March, July, and November. However, these are not confirmed dates for 2027, and we will have to wait for APC's official announcement.
Has Anything Changed for OPRA 2027?
As of now, the answer is NO.
The examination continues to be:
- 2.5 hours long
- 120 multiple-choice questions
- Computer-based
- Based on the same syllabus and competency standards
There have also been no announcements regarding changes to the marking criteria or examination difficulty level.
What About Document Evaluation?
Many candidates are equally concerned about the eligibility and document assessment process.
At present, the document evaluation requirements appear to remain unchanged. Candidates will still need to complete the usual APC assessment process before becoming eligible for the examination.
If you are planning to write OPRA next year, start gathering and verifying documents since it may take longer than expected.
Thinking About Writing OPRA in Early 2027?
If you are aiming for the first examination cycle of 2027, this is actually a great time to start preparing.
Every year, we meet students who postpone their preparation because the examination dates have not been announced yet. A few months later, when the dates are finally released, they realise there is not enough time to cover the syllabus properly.
OPRA is not an examination that can be comfortably prepared for in a few weeks.
The candidates who usually perform well are the ones who start early, study consistently, and give themselves enough time to understand concepts rather than simply memorising facts.
Our Advice to Future OPRA Candidates
Don't wait for the official dates to start your journey.
Whether the first examination is eventually scheduled for March or a little later, the preparation required remains the same. Every week you invest now will make a difference later.
Use this period wisely. Create a study plan, organise your documents, and begin building momentum.
